After Solvang, Debbie and I traveled up Highway 1 (The Pacific Coast Highway) to Monterey. It is a very long drive but very beautiful! Here is the coast in Malibu.
This picture was taken in Wine Country. I guess this may be considered Central California.
As we got further North, the drive became way different. We drove right along cliffs. It is hard to believe we were driving on the edge of the continent!
The Pacific Ocean at Sunset.
Here is a picture from Big Sur. It was getting too dark to stop so we just drove on thru.
Once you get close to Monterey, the fog takes over the road and you feel like you are in a different world! It is amazing! We finally stopped and got some beautiful shots from above the clouds.
We were so excited for this drive. It was something we have talked about doing for a long time and it did not disappoint. Our only regret was that we didn't stop for a tour of Hearst Castle.
The conclusion? Northern California coast line is WAY better than any other part of the California coast line!

Okay, GORGEOUS!! Sam and I have always talked about taking a drive along the Pacific Coast Highway from my grandma's house in Long Beach to my uncle's home in Port Angeles, WA (just north of Seattle). It would be crazy long, but it looks and sounds so beautiful!
WOW - these are great pics. Wish I could have seen it in person. Beautiful !!
